The Scout highlights the opportunities available for managers who have the Assistant Manager chip active in Double Gameweek 33 (DGW33) of Fantasy Premier League.

In DGW33, four clubs play twice - Arsenal, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Crystal Palace - meaning now could be a great opportunity to use the Assistant Manager chip.

In a Double Gameweek, certain clubs play two Premier League fixtures instead of one, so there are twice as many chances to earn Fantasy points.

With the Assistant Manager chip running for three successive Gameweeks, activating the chip now would mean that you could get four fixtures out of your chosen manager, instead of the usual three.

However, it’s important to note that activating the Assistant Manager chip in DGW33 would mean you CANNOT use another chip until Gameweek 36.

Consequently, you would NOT be able to use the Free Hit chip in Blank Gameweek 34 (BGW34), for example, when four clubs - Arsenal, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Man City - will be WITHOUT a fixture, with their players therefore scoring zero points in Fantasy.

Who is the best Assistant Manager for Double Gameweek 33?

If you are one of the 275,000 Fantasy managers who activated their Assistant Manager chip in Gameweek 31, there is now just one Gameweek remaining to earn more points.

On top of that, more than 352,000 managers activated the chip either in Gameweek 32 or so far ahead of DGW33. So, who is the best pick for DGW33 fixtures?

There are two tactics to consider with the Assistant Manager chip.

You can pick a club from the top of the table with a favourable fixture - a tactic which is more reliable but has a lower ceiling for points.

Alternatively, you can target managers from clubs who can earn table bonus - a riskier approach which has a greater ceiling.

You can see the five clubs (in bold below) whose manager can earn table bonus against a team who are ranked at least five places higher in the Premier League table at the start of the Gameweek.

Double Gameweek 33 fixtures

Brentford v Brighton
Crystal Palace v Bournemouth
Everton v Man City
West Ham v Southampton
Aston Villa v Newcastle
Fulham v Chelsea
Ipswich v Arsenal
Man Utd v Wolves
Leicester v Liverpool
Spurs v Nottingham Forest
Man City v Aston Villa
Arsenal v Crystal Palace

Arteta the most reliable pick?

Arsenal look to have the best fixtures of the DGW33 sides, travelling to Ipswich Town before hosting Crystal Palace. Ipswich have won just once at Portman Road all season while Palace have shipped 10 goals across their last two matches.

Mikel Arteta (£1.5m) has blanked just once since managers were added to Fantasy in Gameweek 23. The Spaniard has racked up 64 in 10 matches, losing just once, despite never being eligible for table bonus.

Despite the season-ending injury to Gabriel (£6.2m), Arsenal remain hard to beat, conceding just 4.60 Expected Goals (xG) over the last six Gameweeks, behind only leaders Liverpool.

Finally, despite Arsenal's progression in Europe, rotation weakening the team seems less likely given the Gunners have a free weekend after the Palace fixture. However, like with all Double Gameweek managers, a spare transfer will be needed in BGW34 to bring in a manager with a fixture.

Glasner the best hope for table bonus?

Of the five managers eligible for table bonus in DGW33, Oliver Glasner (£0.8m) is the only one benefit from two fixtures. Crystal Palace host AFC Bournemouth before visiting Arsenal, who are 10 places higher than the Eagles.

Despite enduring a tough DGW32, Palace will be encouraged facing a Bournemouth side that have won just twice in their last nine matches. While the trip to Emirates Stadium looks tricky, Arsenal have been held to draws by Everton and Brentford in each of the last two Gameweeks.

Glasner is not immune to maximising Palace's table-bonus potential, returning back-to-back 20 point hauls against Fulham and Aston Villa earlier in the season.

David Moyes (£0.5m) is also worth a mention, particularly for Fantasy managers activating the Assistant Manager chip ahead of DGW33. Everton have table-bonus fixtures in DGW33 and BGW34, at home to Man City and at Chelsea, before hosting Ipswich Town in Gameweek 35.

No manager has scored more Fantasy points than Moyes' 94 since managers were added to the game, with 19 of those coming in an impressive table-bonus victory against Nottingham Forest in DGW32.

Howe or Slot despite the single Gameweek?

The benefit of opting for a single-Gameweek manager is that their club WILL have a fixture in BGW34.

Eddie Howe (£1.5m) was the most selected manager in DGW32 and he delivered 23 points for over 320,000 Fantasy managers. No manager has scored more points in a Gameweek this season. Remember, Howe WILL still earn Assistant Manager points in FPL despite not being in the dugout this weekend due to illness.

Although Newcastle don't play twice in DGW33, they do play in BGW34, at home to Ipswich, after visiting Aston Villa this weekend.

There is a strong case for Fantasy managers who activated the chip in DGW32 to hold Howe.

One final name to mention is Arne Slot (£1.5m). The Dutchman sits second in the manager standings with 86 points, having won five of his last six matches.

Liverpool travel to Leicester in DGW33. The Foxes have won just one of their last 18 matches and are without a clean sheet since Gameweek 7, boosting the prospects of a big score for the Dutchman.

So, who is the best pick for DGW33?

Arteta has to be the best pick if considering DGW33 in isolation. Arsenal have the fixtures for the Spaniard to rack up a 20+ points like Howe achieved in DGW32.

Managers who activated the chip in DGW32 and opted for Howe would be wise to keep the Newcastle boss.

Elsewhere, Glasner and Moyes are riskier options for Fantasy managers chasing table bonus. The latter is preferred for Fantasy managers activating the chip this week and short on transfers for BGW34, although Glasner appeals more for his DGW33 alone.
