The Scout's watchlist of premium midfielders to consider in Fantasy Premier League continues.
Leroy Sane (Man City) £8.5m
Leroy Sane (£8.5m) can become the most vital of Manchester City’s attackers in Fantasy Premier League this season.
The Germany international took time to settle after signing from Schalke last summer.
He started only four of the first 21 Gameweeks, producing just one goal and one assist. He averaged 2.7 points per match (ppm) during that spell.
But he then grew in FPL stature.
He started 16 of the remaining 17 Gameweeks. The winger produced a further four goals and six assists over that run-in, averaging 4.8 ppm.
The numbers back up Sane’s increased goal threat.
From Gameweek 22 onwards, he enjoyed more touches in the opposition penalty area (122) than any FPL midfielder or Man City player.
A total of 26 shots in the box placed him fifth among midfielders and was more than double that of team-mate Kevin De Bruyne (£10m and 11).
The 17.2%-owned De Bruyne is currently Man City’s most popular FPL pick, with Sane relatively overlooked.
Owned by just 9.1%, he also offers a cheaper alternative not only to the Belgian but also to Man City’s pricey forwards, Sergio Aguero (£11.5m) and Gabriel Jesus (£10.5m).
The opening schedule provides a platform for Sane to shine.
Seven of Man City’s first 10 matches score no more than two in the Fixture Difficulty Rankings (FDR).
If Guardiola shows faith in the pacey winger, Sane can build on the promise of his debut season.
He would then offer the perfect solution for those Fantasy managers struggling to stretch funds to cover Man City’s most expensive attackers.
