Tyrese Campbell's second-half penalty gave 10-man Stoke City their first Premier League 2 Division 2 victory of the season as they edged past Aston Villa 2-1 at Bodymoor Heath.
Daniel Jarvis was sent off just before half-time after receiving his second yellow card for Stoke, who led thanks to a Mark Waddington strike.
Despite being a man down, the Potters doubled their lead when 17-year-old Campbell converted his penalty.
Villa pulled a goal back when Stoke failed to deal with a corner, allowing Khalid Abdo to tap in, but it was just a consolation.
Aston Villa are next in PL2 action away to Fulham on Saturday 26 August. Stoke travel to Norwich City the day before.
