Virgil van Dijk scored a thumping header as Southampton beat Stoke City 3-0 in Premier League 2 Division 2 at Staplewood.
The defender opened the scoring from Matt Targett's 14th minute corner and then had another effort cleared off the line, as he continued his build-up to full fitness after injury.
Callum Slattery curled in the second on the stroke of half-time before Targett converted a penalty won by the lively Van Dijk.
Southampton move up to seventh, two places above Stoke on goal difference.
Their next match is at bottom-placed West Bromwich Albion on Monday 25 September. The Potters travel to leaders Middlesbrough this Friday.
