Five Premier League clubs are represented on the shortlist for the 2017 Ballon d’Or award.
With Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all having players nominated for the prize, the Premier League has more clubs on the shortlist of 30 players than any fellow European competition.
Chelsea and Liverpool each have two nominees: Eden Hazard and 2016/17 EA SPORTS Player of the Season N’Golo Kante; Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane.
Also in the running are Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Man Utd goalkeeper David De Gea, and back-to-back Golden Boot winner Harry Kane, of Spurs.
The Ballon d’Or is judged by France Football journalists.
Michael Owen was the first Premier League player to win the award, in 2001 for Liverpool.
Cristiano Ronaldo won the first of his four awards in 2008 with Man Utd.

Another Premier League player has also earned a nomination for the 2017 FIFA Puskas Award for the best goal of the year.
