Zach Clough and Matty Cash were on target as Nottingham Forest came from behind to beat Derby County 2-1 in Group A at Pride Park.
Forest featured five first-team players in their line-up but fell behind in the 12th minute when Charles Vernam scored from 12 yards.
Clough claimed the equaliser with a curling strike before the break and then set up Cash for the winner early in the second half.
Middlesbrough and Birmingham City are the other teams in Group A. All four sides are now level on three points with two matches played.
