Substitute Andrew Nelson scored late on to give Sunderland a 1-1 draw with Legia Warsaw, a result which puts them top of Group B.

Nelson hooked in the equaliser with four minutes remaining as the Black Cats went a point clear of Leicester City, having played one match more.

Robert Bartczak's clever finish had given Legia, playing their first match of the group, a first-half lead at Eppleton Colliery Welfare ground.

If Sunderland beat Leicester in their final group match on 5 December, they will all but qualify for the last eight.
