Huddersfield Town and Burnley could again not be separated as they played out a goalless draw for the second time this season.
There had only been 13 shots in September’s tie at Turf Moor, and chances were at a premium at the John Smith’s Stadium, too.
Huddersfield’s Collin Quaner forced an early save, but Burnley then gained the upper hand.
Jeff Hendrick had a goal disallowed, and Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Steven Defour each shot wide.
The Clarets created two good chances in the second half, but Scott Arfield and Nakhi Wells were both denied by Jonas Lossl.
Burnley remain seventh while Huddersfield stay 11th.
