Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record is under threat from Harry Kane, according to Phil Neville, who says the Tottenham Hotspur striker is going to “blitz every record going” and has likened him to Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
Kane scored twice in Spurs’ 4-0 victory over Everton at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening, taking him on to 20 goals for the season, from 22 appearances this term.
“He’s after Alan Shearer [260 goals] now, in terms of all-time leading Premier League goalscorer,” Neville said of a player who has now scored 98 Premier League goals.
“I watched Messi against Celta Vigo the other night, and he picks moments in the game to exert his energy, and that’s what Harry Kane is developing now.
“When you play in that kind of style, that tells you he's gone on to that world-class level.”
