Michael Gyasi scored the only goal as Cardiff City claimed a 1-0 Premier League Cup win at Southampton.
The substitute netted on 76 minutes at the Staplewood Training Ground, getting on the end of a Danny Rowe cross.
Cardiff were awarded a penalty early on but Southampton goalkeeper Kingsley Latham denied Mark Harris.
Despite Saints dominating for large spells the Welsh side held on for victory that sent them to within a point of Southampton, who remain top of Group B with six points.
