Villarreal beat Manchester United 2-0 in the quarter-finals to maintain their hopes of winning the Premier League International Cup for the second time in three seasons.
United had the better of the first half, but Villarreal goalkeeper Jose Antonio Martinez superbly denied Ethan Hamilton and Tahith Chong to keep the Spanish side on level terms.
They then capitalised with two quick goals at the start of the second half at Leigh Sports Village.
Adrian Dalmau opened the scoring shortly after the interval before Pedro Martinez hit the second.
The 2015/16 winners join Arsenal in the last four, with Liverpool playing Porto this evening and Sunderland hosting Newcastle on 7 March in the remaining quarter-final ties.
