Mitchell Curry scored twice as Middlesbrough beat Liverpool 3-1 at Bishop Auckland to reach the Premier League Cup quarter-finals.

The 18-year-old striker (pictured) gave Boro a flying start when he opened the scoring after 46 seconds.

Former Liverpool defender Tom Brewitt made it 2-0 against his old club before half-time.

Curry raced through to make it 3-0 in the 57th minute before Matt Virtue pulled one back for the visitors.

And Curry missed the chance of a hat-trick when he fired an 84th-minute penalty over the bar.

The Premier League Cup quarter-final draw will take place from 12pm GMT on Thursday 22 March, via @PLYouth on Twitter.
