Indy Boonen struck in first-half stoppage time to earn Manchester United a 1-1 with Manchester City and move off the foot of the Premier League 2 Division 1 table.
United got off to the worst possible start at City's Academy Stadium when Lorenzo Gonzalez put City, for whom Benjamin Mendy made his return after a seven-month injury absence, ahead after four minutes.
Gonzalez had the chance to double the lead soon after when he raced clear, but his strike was saved by Kieran O'Hara.
But with the half nearly over, Callum Gribbin curled a dangerous free-kick towards the box and Boonen rose highest to nod in.
City dominated after the break but the fantastic reactions of O'Hara ensured the visitors earned a vital point.
United, on 19 points, move above bottom club Sunderland, who have a match in hand, on goal difference, although they will be relegated next week if Derby County beat West Ham United.
City are eighth on 27 points.
