2001: Chelsea 4-1 Ipswich Town

Gustavo Poyet scored twice as Chelsea came from behind to win 4-1 against Ipswich Town at Stamford Bridge.

Ipswich initially took the lead through a 23rd-minute Marcus Stewart strike. But Poyet levelled on the stroke of half-time and, after Dennis Wise had put Chelsea ahead, the Uruguayan made it 3-1.

The hosts were then awarded a penalty, which was converted by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, while Ipswich's John McGreal was sent off for voicing his displeasure at the decision.

Chelsea moved up to eighth with 34 points while Ipswich slipped to fifth with 40 points, trailing fourth-placed Liverpool on goal difference.

2002: Chelsea 5-1 West Ham United

Two goals each from strikers Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Eidur Gudjohnsen gave Chelsea a comfortable home win over 10-man West Ham United.

The Blues were 3-0 up after an hour, and any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Paulo Di Canio was sent off.

The match ended with a flurry of goals between the 87th and 90th minutes as Gudjohnsen made it 4-0, Jermain Defoe pulled one back and Mikael Forssell completed the scoring.

Chelsea remained sixth with 37 points, while West Ham slipped below Sunderland into 12th place on goal difference, with 28 points.
