2008: Liverpool 3-0 Newcastle United
Liverpool eased past Newcastle United at Anfield to boost their chances of finishing fourth and leave the visitors fighting for Premier League safety.
Jermaine Pennant put Liverpool in front but with a slice of luck. Jose Enrique’s attempted clearance for Newcastle deflected off the player and into the back of the net.
Fernando Torres hit his 25th goal of the season to double the lead just before half-time.
Torres then turned provider as he set up Steven Gerrard to slot home.
The victory kept Liverpool fourth on 56 points. Newcastle were three points above the bottom three.
2010: Wigan Athletic 1-0 Liverpool
Liverpool’s hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification suffered a setback as struggling Wigan Athletic punished Rafael Benitez's side.
A Dirk Kuyt mistake led to Wigan’s goal 10 minutes before the break. Hugo Rodallega volleyed home after he latched on to Emmerson Boyce’s cross.
Liverpool, on 48 points, remained a point behind Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, in fourth and fifth respectively.
Wigan's win gave them a small cushion between them and the bottom three.
