2000: Manchester United 7-1 West Ham United
A Paul Scholes hat-trick inspired Manchester United to an emphatic 7-1 victory over West Ham United at Old Trafford.
Although Paulo Wanchope had given the Hammers an early lead, Scholes scored a treble with a 20-yard shot, a deft flick and a penalty.
Denis Irwin, Andy Cole, David Beckham, with a trademark free-kick, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were also on target for the Red Devils.
The win extended United's lead at the top of the table to 10 points, with second-place Leeds United losing to Chelsea at the same time. West Ham remained eighth.
2009: Shearer becomes Newcastle manager
Newcastle United appointed club legend and the Premier League's all-time leading goalscorer, Alan Shearer, as caretaker manager.
Shearer took over from Chris Hughton, who was in temporary charge while permanent manager Joe Kinnear recovered from heart surgery.
With the Magpies in 18th place at the time of his appointment, Shearer was unable to save them from relegation in his eight matches at the helm.
Although a win over relegation rivals Middlesbrough gave them hope, A 1-0 loss at Aston Villa meant they went down on the final day.
