1995: Leeds United 1-0 Liverpool
Tony Yeboah’s wonder strike secured a home win for Leeds United against Liverpool.
As the ball dropped 25 yards out, the Ghanaian striker sent a thunderous volley onto the underside of the crossbar and down into the net, scoring one of the Premier League’s greatest goals.
The result left Leeds in fourth spot after victories in both of their opening two fixtures, while Liverpool lay five places and three points behind.
2010: Arsenal 6-0 Blackpool
Theo Walcott scored his first Premier League hat-trick in a 6-0 triumph over 10-man Blackpool at Emirates Stadium.
Blackpool had just been promoted and had beaten Wigan Athletic 4-0 on the opening day, but they were quickly brought down to earth.
Walcott opened the scoring in the 12th minute and, just after the half-hour mark, Ian Evatt was sent off for the visitors.
Andrey Arshavin immediately converted from the penalty spot, and Walcott made it 3-0 before half-time. His third goal came in the second period, sandwiched between strikes by Abou Diaby and Marouane Chamakh.
Arsenal moved into second place on goal difference, with four points, while Blackpool finished the second round of fixtures lying 11th on three points.
