1995: Dennis Bergkamp joins Arsenal
Dutch forward Dennis Bergkamp agreed to sign for Arsenal from Inter Milan.
Bergkamp quickly established himself as an integral part of Bruce Rioch's team, scoring 11 goals in his debut season, before Arsene Wenger took over as manager in 1996.
Under Wenger, Bergkamp went on to win the 1997/98, 2001/02 and 2003/04 Premier League titles, the last of which was won without losing a single match.
He won the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award on four occasions, and finished his PL career with 87 goals and 94 assists in 315 appearances.
He retired at the end of the 2005/06 campaign, and since a statue of him has been made outside Emirates Stadium to honour his stellar careeer for the north London club.
2001: John Arne Riise joins Liverpool
Liverpool signed John Arne Riise from French side Monaco on a five-year deal.
He impressed in his first season for Liverpool, playing all 38 PL matches in 2001/02 and scoring seven goals as the Reds finished second in the table.
The left wing-back was a regular for Liverpool until he left in 2008, winning the UEFA Champions League under Rafael Benitez in 2004/05.
He scored 21 goals in 234 Premier League appearances for the Merseyside club.
