2006: Glen Johnson joins Portsmouth on loan
Portsmouth signed Glen Johnson on loan from Chelsea for the 2006/07 season.
The right-back had made 40 appearances in three Premier League campaigns for the Blues, winning a title winners’ medal in 2004/05.
Johnson impressed in his season at Portsmouth, making 26 appearances, and joined them on a permanent basis in August 2007.
He went on to make 58 appearances in two further seasons at Fratton Park, scoring four goals before joining Liverpool in 2009.
2016: Liverpool sign Sadio Mane
Sadio Mane completed his transfer to Liverpool after two impressive seasons at Southampton.
Mane continued his fine form for Liverpool, getting 13 goals in 27 matches during his first league campaign at Anfield, including a memorable goal on debut.
The Reds finished fourth in 2016/17, as the Senegal winger also supplied five assists.
