2007: Tottenham Hotspur sign Darren Bent
After Charlton Athletic’s relegation from the Premier League, Darren Bent joined Tottenham Hotspur for a then club-record fee.
Bent went on to score 18 goals in two campaigns for Tottenham Hotspur, before moving to Sunderland.
2011: David De Gea joins Manchester United
Manchester United completed the signing of David De Gea to replace retired goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar at Old Trafford.
The 20-year-old moved from Atletico Madrid and Sir Alex Ferguson’s faith in the Spaniard was rewarded in the 2012/13 season.
De Gea was named in the 2012/13 Professional Footballers Association Team of the Year as Man Utd won the Premier League title.
