Tottenham Hotspur announced the signing of 25-year-old Bulgarian international striker Dimitar Berbatov from Bayer Leverkusen.

In his first season, Berbatov scored 12 goals in 33 PL appearances, winning the club's Player of the Season and earning a place in the PFA Team of the Year.

He added another 15 goals the following season before joining Manchester United at the start of the 2008/09 campaign.

2009: West Brom 0-2 Liverpool

West Bromwich Albion were relegated from the Premier League with a match to go after suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to Liverpool.

Steven Gerrard and Dirk Kuyt scored in either half and although West Brom piled on the pressure in the latter stages, they could not get back into the contest and dropped to the Championship after one season in the top flight.

The victory was Liverpool's ninth in 10 league matches and put them on 83 points, which beat their previous PL record.
