2007: Bale signs for Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of 17-year-old forward Gareth Bale from Southampton.
The Welsh forward had a slow start to his career at White Hart Lane but soon became a Premier League sensation, winning the PL's Player of the Season in 2012/13 after scoring 21 goals in 33 league appearances.
He made a total of 146 Premier League appearances, scoring 42 goals, before moving to Real Madrid in 2013.
2007: Portsmouth sign Hreidarsson
Versatile defender Hermann Hreidarsson joined Portsmouth from Charlton Athletic following the Addicks’ relegation from the Premier League.
Pompey proved to be the Iceland international's fifth and final Premier League club.
He won the FA Cup in his first season at Fratton Park, while making a total of 72 top-flight appearances and scoring six goals in his time on the south coast.
