For Luke Shaw, the hope is that his winning strike against Leicester City in Matchweek 1 will be the start of a special season.
The left-back made 16 Premier League appearances in his first campaign at Manchester United after leaving Southampton in the summer of 2014.
Then, after building up his fitness in Dubai during the summer, he started the first five fixtures of 2015/16.
A broken leg interrupted his progress and the 23-year-old was restricted to 22 PL outings between that injury and the end of last season.
But he made his mark in the opening fixture of 2018/19.
He scored his first-ever PL goal to secure a 2-1 victory against Leicester and will hope to build on that performance when the Red Devils visit Brighton & Hove Albion.
Speaking to his former coach Ryan Giggs in the video above, Shaw says: "Mentally, over the summer, it was quite hard. I really wanted to be at the World Cup and it pushed me on even more during pre-season.
"Back in the second season with [Louis] van Gaal, I did a trip to Dubai and came back feeling really good. It's similar to this time. I did it again.
"I've come back really fit, ready to go, and I think this is my season hopefully."
