Fantasy Premier League managers who own Kevin De Bruyne (£9.9m) will be assessing their options.
The Manchester City playmaker is expected to be sidelined for around three months with a knee injury sustained in training on Wednesday, City said in a statement on their official website.
Big sales of De Bruyne will now follow for the second-most popular midfielder whose ownership of 25 per cent is rapidly decreasing.
But who should those owners seek as a replacement? The Scout takes a look.
Sadio Mane (LIV) £9.6m
He overshadowed Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) in Gameweek 1 with two goals and 16 points. Even if you own Salah, Mane can be worth doubling up with in the Liverpool attack.
Bernardo Silva (MCI) £7.6m
Man City’s form player over the summer, with two goals and two assists. He scored their second goal in the Gameweek 1 win at Arsenal.
Riyad Mahrez (MCI) £9.0m
Mahrez produced 12 goals and 13 assists for Leicester City last season. He is owned by just five per cent and could be a big differential for Man City.
De Bruyne’s potential absence could also limit the threat of rotation for both Silva and Mahrez.
If the versatile Silva moves to a central role, there will be less competition for Mahrez in the attacking midfield.
Eden Hazard (CHE) £10.5m
The Chelsea winger has scored 170+ points in five of the last six seasons and can maintain that form under new head coach Maurizio Sarri.
Richarlison (EVE) £6.6m
He scored two goals in a sensational Gameweek 1 debut for Everton and can appeal to those looking to free up cash for big-hitting forwards.
