There was only one thing on Jean Michael Seri's mind when a pass came to him 25 metres out from the Burnley goal at Craven Cottage on Sunday, 26 August.
"When I received the ball, I said, 'Shoot, shoot, shoot,' " the Fulham midfielder explained. "And I shot."
Seri unleashed a fierce curling drive that flew past Joe Hart and opened the scoring in Fulham's 4-2 victory, their first of the Premier League campaign.
The strike was also voted the Carling Goal of the Month for August by a panel of football experts and the public.
Seri added that he didn't plan to celebrate until he had 10 goals for the club but the reaction of the Fulham faithful at the quality of his first strike meant he could not help himself.
"When I saw the fans, I say, 'Wow!' At this moment, I have to celebrate, so I celebrated!"
Seri and the Fulham fans will be hoping for more goals like that this season, starting with their match at Manchester City on Saturday.
