Jacob Butterfield scored the only goal as Derby County ended Brighton & Hove Albion's unbeaten start to the Premier League 2 Division 1 season.
Butterfield's superb long-range strike came in the 66th minute, five minutes before Derby defender Curtis Davies went off after a successful return to injury.
The win puts Derby sixth, one place above Brighton.
