Brighton & Hove Albion earned the first victory of their debut Premier League International Cup campaign, as they triumphed 2-0 against Benfica.

Viktor Gyokeres gave Brighton a 12th-minute lead against the Portuguese side, when he scored a penalty after Mathias Normann had been brought down.

Aaron Connolly (pictured) doubled the Seagulls' lead with his ninth goal from 12 matches this season, when he cut inside and curled the ball into the bottom corner on 26 minutes.

Victory means Brighton are level with Everton at the top of Group D, with four points each. The Seagulls host Bayern Munich in their final group match.
