A repeat of the Boxing Day hat-trick that Harry Kane scored last season would send the Tottenham Hotspur striker joint-top of the goalscoring charts for the special day in the Premier League calendar.
Kane’s treble against Southampton at Wembley last year took his total number of goals on Boxing Day to six.
He is only three behind the nine goals by leading all-time scorer for that day, Robbie Fowler.
Top 10 PL scorers on Boxing Day
Player | Goals |
---|---|
Robbie Fowler | 9 |
Alan Shearer | 8 |
Robbie Keane | 8 |
Thierry Henry | 7 |
Jermain Defoe | 6 |
Harry Kane | 6 |
Steven Gerrard | 5 |
Andrew Cole | 5 |
Frank Lampard | 5 |
Dimitar Berbatov | 5 |
This Boxing Day Kane will again be at home against a south-coast side as he takes on AFC Bournemouth at Wembley.
And he has a good record against the Cherries, having scored six times in five PL meetings, including a hat-trick in October 2015.
Even if he cannot go level with Fowler, Kane could still pull ahead in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.
He is joint second-top scorer this season with 11 goals after his double against Everton on Sunday.
