Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho were both on target as Manchester City overcame Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Pep Guardiola's side raced into a two-goal lead in a pulsating opening 36 minutes.
De Bruyne scored the first on 15 minutes, reacting quickest to Iheanacho’s flick-on from a long punt by Aleksandar Kolarov.
The Belgian was prominent in the second goal, curling a left-foot shot off the far post, the ball bouncing to Iheanacho to finish from close range.
United found a way back into the match when goalkeeper Claudio Bravo dropped Wayne Rooney’s free-kick, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic reacted with a superb half-volley to score his fourth goal in as many league matches.
Substitute Marcus Rashford made a lively contribution for United, but despite chances at both end, the score remained in City's favour by the final whistle.
