Sunderland remain bottom of the Premier League after being held to a goalless draw at home by Burnley.
Chances were few and far between at the Stadium of Light but Ashley Barnes could have put Burnley ahead in the first half when he poked Scott Arfield’s cross wide from close range.
Sunderland improved after the break and Adnan Januzaj, having seen an earlier volley saved by Tom Heaton, sent a low strike past the outside of the post.
Burnley almost snatched a late victory when Sam Vokes was denied by Jordan Pickford as the Clarets’ search for a first away Premier League win continued.
