George Miller netted his 10th goal of the season to help Middlesbrough beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 at the Riverside Stadium.
Lewis Wing and Tom Brewitt completed the scoring as Boro moved five points clear at the top of the Division 2 table.
The hosts went ahead on 28 minutes when Wing crossed for Miller to head in.
Wing's effort deflected off John on 72 minutes to make it 2-0.
Five minutes later it was 3-0, when Brewitt nodded in and the referee's assistant confirmed that the ball had crossed the line.
Donovan Wilson scored a consolation for Wolves.
Victory takes Boro top of the table, five points clear of Blackburn Rovers, who have played one match fewer, while Wolves lie 10th.
