Aaron Connolly scored the only goal as Brighton & Hove Albion beat 10-man Southampton 1-0 to end a run of six Division 2 matches without victory.
The half-time substitute scored with a half-volley in the 56th minute to secure the Seagulls' third win of the season, in front of first-team manager Chris Hughton.
Southampton had Jan Bednarek sent off in the 13th minute, following his challenge on Soufyan Ahannach.
Brighton have moved up to seventh place, behind Southampton on goal difference.
