Ten-man AFC Bournemouth beat Aston Villa 2-1 at home to leapfrog their visitors and move out of the bottom three.
Philip Billing put the Cherries ahead in the 37th minute with his first goal for the club and Nathan Ake doubled the lead just before the break, following up after Pepe Reina had spilled Harry Wilson's centre.
The hosts were reduced to 10 men in the 51st minute when Jefferson Lerma received a second booking.
Mbwana Samatta pulled a goal back for Villa on 70 minutes, heading in on his Premier League debut and becoming the first Tanzanian player to score in the competition.
But Dean Smith's side were unable to find an equaliser.
AFC Bournemouth move up to 16th on 26 points, while Villa drop to 17th with 25 points.
