Callum Wilson's first-half goal proved decisive as Newcastle United beat Burnley 1-0 to earn their first Premier League win of the season.
Burnley came close to an opener at St James' Park, but Johann Gudmundsson's angled drive came back off the woodwork.
Five minutes before the break, Newcastle went ahead through Wilson, who reacted quickest to fire in after Nick Pope had failed to gather the ball.
Newcastle almost added a second on 55 minutes, but Miguel Almiron was denied by a fingertip save from Pope.
Both sides continued to press forward, but a single goal was enough to secure Newcastle victory and move them up to 19th on 10 points.
Burnley stay a place above them on goal difference, three points from safety.
