A goal in either half from Callum Wilson earned Newcastle United a 2-1 win at Turf Moor and ended Burnley's six-year stay in the Premier League due to Leeds United's 2-1 victory at Brentford.
Wilson opened the scoring on 20 minutes, converting a penalty after Nathan Collins had been penalised for handball following a VAR review.
Newcastle doubled their lead on the hour mark when Allan Saint-Maximin teed up Wilson to score his second from close range.
Burnley pulled one back nine minutes later through Maxwel Cornet, who netted at the second attempt after his initial effort had been saved.
Jack Cork had a late effort cleared off the line, but Burnley were unable to find an equaliser as they finish the season in 18th on 35 points.
Newcastle end the campaign in 11th on 49 points after winning six of their final eight matches.
