Second-half goals from Stuart Armstrong and Shane Long earned Southampton a 2-0 win over Everton.
Donny van de Beek shot wide early on for Everton, who were grateful to Jordan Pickford during the first half.
The goalkeeper denied Armando Broja before tipping James Ward-Prowse’s free-kick around a post. Pickford also kept out Mohamed Elyounoussi’s shot and Tino Livramento’s close-range effort.
Southampton’s pressure told as they went ahead on 52 minutes, Armstrong finding the bottom-right corner after being played in by Che Adams.
The home side continued to dominate as Pickford denied Kyle Walker-Peters before Broja fired over.
Victory was sealed with six minutes remaining when substitute Long headed in from Livramento’s cross within a minute of coming on.
Southampton are unbeaten in four and stay 10th with 32 points. Everton remain 16th on 22 points, four clear of the relegation zone.
