Newcastle United won their sixth successive home Premier League match as Miguel Almiron's first-half goal was enough to beat Crystal Palace 1-0.
Almiron curled a left-foot shot into the top corner after a pass from Bruno Guimaraes in the 32nd minute to take the Magpies on to 40 points.
The hosts had the better of the first half, with Joelinton coming close before the goal, as Palace struggled to get going.
Palace's Odsonne Edouard had a header saved by Martin Dubravka after the break but the visitors did not do enough to earn a point.
Newcastle's victory lifts them up to 11th, 15 points clear of the bottom three, while Palace drop to 14th on 37 points.
