FPL prices: Salah drops and stays in midfield

The Scout assesses the player prices in 2019/20 Fantasy Premier League and what they mean for FPL managers.

Man City pair matched

Managers will have to pay a premium if they want both Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling in their squad.

The Manchester City players are identically priced at £12.0million, each up from last season’s initial cost of £11.0m.

Aguero is now the most expensive forward in FPL after his 21 goals and 11 assists in 2018/19.

Yet when it came to points per match (ppm), Sterling’s average of 6.8 was more than any regular player in FPL last season.

Sterling could earn more attention this term with Eden Hazard’s departure from Chelsea depriving managers of another big-hitter in midfield.

Mane to Salah gap closes

Sadio Mane has risen to £11.5m after winning a share of the Golden Boot last season.

The midfielder will cost just £1.0m less than his Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah, who remains the most expensive player in the game despite dropping £0.5m to £12.5m.

Last season there was a £3.5m difference in their opening valuations, with Salah starting at £13.0m and Mane at £9.5m.

But Mane matched Salah's 22 goals and their new prices for this season will give managers plenty to consider when choosing their preferred Liverpool attacker.

Affordable Firmino and De Bruyne

At £9.5m apiece, Roberto Firmino and Kevin De Bruyne offer less expensive options for Liverpool and Man City.

Firmino has produced at least 155 points in four successive seasons for the Reds.

De Bruyne suffered an injury-hit 2018/19, managing only two goals and three assists.

But his output in the previous two seasons highlights his potential. He claimed 209 and 199 points over those periods, totalling 14 goals and 39 assists.
