1994: Gerry Francis appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager
Gerry Francis was appointed manager of Tottenham Hotspur after a spell at Queens Park Rangers.
In his first season Spurs finished seventh in the league, two places off a UEFA Cup place, and lost to Everton in an FA Cup semi-final.
In total Francis oversaw 217 matches in the Premier League, accumulating 79 wins. Outside the top flight, he also took charge of Exeter City and Bristol Rovers (twice).

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th club goal in the third minute with a stunning free-kick from 25-yards before Michael Carrick doubled the scoreline.
Goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Danny Welbeck, making his Premier League debut, gave United a four-goal lead before Ronaldo scored his second.
The result left Man Utd in third on 24 points, eight points behind leaders Chelsea, while Stoke dropped down to 15th on 14 points.
