The Scout looks at the Fantasy Premier League potential of summer signings ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Kai Havertz (CHE) £8.5m
The attacking midfielder arrives at Chelsea on the back of two very impressive seasons for Bayer Leverkusen.
Havertz established himself as a regular for the German side at the start of 2018/19.
Since then, he has scored 29 goals and supplied a further nine assists in 64 Bundesliga appearances.
Havertz's first Chelsea training session
The versatile Havertz is expected to occupy the No 10 role in a 4-2-3-1 formation for Chelsea, although he also provides options on the right or as a “false nine”.
And the underlying statistics from 2019/20 perfectly show his all-round style of play.
He produced 59 shots and also created 59 chances in 30 league matches.
Sharp shooter
Managers are spoiled for choice in the Chelsea attack this season, with Havertz adding to a host of options along with Hakim Ziyech (£8.0m), Christian Pulisic (£8.5m) and Timo Werner (£9.5m).
However, his clinical edge suggests he has the greatest goal scoring potential among Chelsea's FPL midfielders.
Havertz converted 20.3 per cent of his shots last season, similar to his 19.5 per cent in 2018/29.
By comparison, midfield rivals Pulisic and Ziyech scored only 14.3 per cent and 7.0 per cent of their shots respectively in 2019/20.
Platform to perform
Considering that three of Chelsea’s front four have only joined this summer, it may take time for Frank Lampard’s side to gel.
Nonetheless, their opening schedule suggests early investment could pay off.
The Blues will face Brighton & Hove Albion, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace in the first four Gameweeks.
If Havertz is immediately handed a start in Gameweek 1, he can quickly establish himself as a major source of goals and points in Fantasy.
