Jamie Vardy and Leicester City showed the form that won the Premier League title last season with a 4-2 victory over Manchester City.
The champions had a great start as Vardy ended his scoreless run with a trademark finish in the third minute.
Two minutes later Andy King curled in a second and Leicester were 3-0 up on 20 minutes when, on a breakaway, Riyad Mahrez’s sublime pass allowed Vardy to round Claudio Bravo to score.
Man City continued to dominate and came close to getting a goal back before Vardy pounced on John Stones’s backpass on 78 minutes to score from a narrow angle for his first Premier League hat-trick.
Aleksandar Kolarov’s free-kick and Nolito’s close-range finish prevented Pep Guardiola suffering his heaviest defeat as a coach.
