Haller or Carroll: Which acrobatic goal was better?

Sebastien Haller's spectacular overhead kick has been voted the December 2020 Budweiser Goal of the Month.

Haller's incredible acrobatic effort helped West Ham United secure a 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace.

"To be honest, I used to score a goal like that every season, so I’m used to it!" Haller told West Ham's official website last month.

"It's kind of special and I’m just happy because it was a beautiful goal and it helped us to get one point.

“It’s a movement I really like and I appreciate doing things like that. I don’t know why, but it’s something I used to practice when I was young."

Emulating past West Ham winners

The forward, who completed a move to Ajax this month, is the second player to claim the prize for West Ham this season, after Manuel Lanzini's stunning strike against Tottenham Hotspur was voted the best in October.

His goal bore a remarkable similarity to the one that earned Andy Carroll the Goal of the Month award in January 2017, which was also scored in a home fixture for West Ham against Palace.

Haller's goal was chosen by a panel of experts combined with a public vote, beating seven other contenders.
