Newcastle United will assess Javier Manquillo before a decision is made on his availability to face Leeds United.

Ciaran Clark, Federico Fernandez and Paul Dummett are ruled out while Allan Saint-Maximin is likely to feature, but Tuesday's match may be too soon for him to start as he eases back to full match fitness.

Goalkeeper Illan Meslier has recovered from illness and is available for Leeds, but Robin Koch and Gaetano Berardi (both knee) remain sidelined.

Did you know?

Newcastle head coach Steve Bruce has never lost a home league match against Leeds in his managerial career (W5 D2).

Newcastle will hope to avoid losing both home and away matches against a promoted club in a PL season for only the third time, previously doing so against Charlton Athletic (2000/01) and Watford (2015/16).

Having won 5-2 against Newcastle in December, Leeds can complete a Premier League double over the Magpies for the first time, last doing so in a league season in 1975/76.

Leeds are the only Premier League team yet to score in all competitions in 2021. The only previous club in the competition to fail to score in their first four matches in a year were Cardiff City in 2019.
