Newcastle United went second in Division 2 after a 3-2 win against a Stoke City side for whom Ibrahim Afellay ended an eight-month layoff through injury.
Goals from Curtis Good, Luke Charman and Callum Roberts put Newcastle 3-0 on 55 minutes at Clayton Wood.
But shortly after Afellay’s runout ended, Stoke pulled two goals back, through substitutes Jordan Greenidge and Jake Dunwoody, and almost got an equaliser when Liam Smith hit the bar.
The three points send Newcastle above Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham on 23 points, seven behind Swansea City.
