The Scout's panel of experts give their verdicts on who managers should captain ahead of the Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 24 deadline of 18:15 GMT on Tuesday 8 February.

I'm backing arguably the league's best attack against statistically the league's worst defence. Liverpool star Diogo Jota (£8.5m) gets the armband for me, at home to a Leicester City side whose expected goals conceded (xGC) statistic sits at a whopping 14.8 across their last six matches - so over two goals per match.

I'm only considering a Manchester City player this week. Joao Cancelo (£7.1m) is tempting but I'm leaning towards an attacker. At the moment Raheem Sterling (£10.8m) is just edging out Phil Foden (£8.0m) as I think he's more likely to score as long as he starts.

At the moment I've got the armband on Jarrod Bowen (£6.9m) as the form player in my team, but I'm tempted to bring in Kevin De Bruyne (£12.2m) and he would absolutely get the captaincy in that case.

Looking back to his best and with underlying data to match, I'm backing Harry Kane (£12.3m) against one of his favoured opponents, Southampton.

There are a number of great captaincy options for Gameweek 24. Both Kane and Son Heung-min (£10.6m) have fantastic records against Southampton. Indeed, Son recorded his career-high haul of 24 points at St Mary’s Stadium last season.
I also think with Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) and Sadio Mane (£11.7m) both playing 120 minutes in the Africa Cup of Nations final, Jota could be a great option for the armband against a Leicester side who conceded four goals to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup at the weekend.
