Odegaard helped the Gunners end a run of four winless matches by scoring twice to collect 15 points against Chelsea in Gameweek 34.

He then scored the opener in last weekend's 2-0 triumph over Newcastle United to earn a further 10 points.

A home encounter with Brighton & Hove Albion now gives him the chance to maintain his momentum.

Brighton have struggled in defence on their travels this season, claiming only two of their 11 clean sheets in away matches.

The underlying numbers further strengthen the appeal of Odegaard.

His 10 shots and eight shots in the box each put him among Arsenal’s top two players over the last four matches, with the latter total beating the tally of any midfield team-mate.

Odegaard has also produced seven shots on target, at least three more than any other Arsenal player.

That goal threat can help Odegaard take advantage of his visitors' defensive weaknesses and keep Arsenal’s title bid alive.
