Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced that Matt Doherty has rejoined the club.
Doherty returns to Wolves three years after departing as a club legend following a decade-long spell at Molineux that included over 300 appearances and two promotions.
The wing-back says the prospect of working under Julen Lopetegui attracted him to move back to Wolves, and that he returns to the Premier League as a better player.
“I’ve grown as a player in my confidence, physically improving again, tactically – I’ve worked with some of the best managers on the planet, so if you can’t improve with them, then you’re never going to improve," Doherty told Wolves' official website.
“I always feel like I’m improving every single year. I’ve had some times when my form hasn’t been great and I’ve not been able to play as well as I would have liked, or as well as I did when I was at Wolves the first time.
“But I still feel like I have a lot to give and I know that I have a lot to give. Let’s hope that I’m able to keep improving under this new manager and that he can get the best out of me.”

Doherty returns to the Premier League having made 119 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing 14 assists.
During his early seasons in the competition with Wolves, he established himself as one of the division's best attacking wing-backs, earning himself a move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2020.
After two-and-a-half seasons at Spurs, he joined Atletico Madrid in January of this year, but made only two appearances for the Spanish club.
Now 31 years old, the Irishman could make his first appearance back at Wolves in the club's pre-season friendly against Porto on 25 July.
Wolves start their 2023/24 Premier League campaign at Manchester United on Monday 14 August.
Pick Doherty in FPL?
The Scout says: "He was a huge success first time around at Wolves in Fantasy, with scores of 144 and 167 points in his last two seasons at the club.
"Wolves kept 10 clean sheets at home last season, the second-best total in the league, suggesting Doherty could be a strong rotation pick when playing at Molineux."
