Every match was full of excitement, and that means there were some incredible stats from the opening weekend of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
Burnley 0-3 Manchester City
Erling Haaland has now scored 100 goals in Europe's top-five leagues (63 for Borussia Dortmund, 37 for Manchester City), with only Robert Lewandowski (114) netting more since the Norwegian’s debut in January 2020.
Haaland is only the second player to score two or more goals in a team's opening match of a Premier League season in consecutive campaigns (also two vs West Ham in 2022/23), after Didier Drogba in 2009/10 (two v Hull) and 2010/11 (three v West Brom) for Chelsea.

Arsenal 2-1 Nottingham Forest
Taiwo Awoniyi became only the second Nottingham Forest player to score in five consecutive Premier League appearances, after Stan Collymore (six between March-April 1995).
This was the first time Gabriel was not named in a Premier League starting XI for Arsenal since August 2021 in a 5-0 defeat to Man City, ending the Brazilian's run of 73 consecutive league starts for the Gunners.
AFC Bournemouth 1-1 West Ham United
Three of Tomas Soucek’s six assists in the Premier League have come against Bournemouth, while half of his assists in the competition have also been for Jarrod Bowen.

Eberechi Eze attempted more shots (eight) and created more chances (seven) than any other player in the Premier League last weekend.
Newcastle United 5-1 Aston Villa
This was Newcastle's biggest win in their opening match of a league campaign since 2002/03 (4-0 v West Ham), while it's the first time Aston Villa have conceded five or more goals in their first league match since 1951/52 (2-5 v Bolton).
Newcastle finished a day top of the Premier League table for the first time since 13 August 2007, under Sam Allardyce.
With Sandro Tonali opening the scoring for Newcastle after six minutes, and Moussa Diaby levelling for Villa after 11 minutes, this was the earliest into a match in Premier League history that two different players scored on their debut.
Brentford 2-2 Spurs
Brentford are unbeaten in their last 10 London derbies in league competition (W5 D5) – only the second time in their history they have gone 10+ without defeat in such contests, along with an 11-match streak in 1955.
James Maddison (10 goals and 11 assists) is one of three players with 10+ goals and 10+ assists in the Premier League since the start of last season, along with Mohamed Salah (19 goals and 12 assists) and Bukayo Saka (15 goals and 11 assists).
Micky van de Ven had the highest duel success rate (90 per cent) of any player to contest five or more duels in the Premier League at the weekend (nine of ten duels won, four of five aerial duels won, two of two take-ons completed and two of two tackles made). The Dutchman also didn't commit a single foul.
Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool
Chelsea had a possession figure of 65.4 per cent in this match, their most in any Premier League match against Liverpool since such records began in 2003/04.
Salah has been directly involved in 12 goals in seven Matchweek 1 appearances in the Premier League, with eight goals and four assists; only Wayne Rooney has more goals and assists on the opening weekend in the competition, with 13.
No Liverpool player won possession more times (10), won more duels (seven), or completed more take-ons (two) than Alexis Mac Allister against Chelsea. He won possession in the final third more times than any other player on the pitch (three).
