The 26-year-old had been unavailable since the beginning of August after minor knee surgery, but Arteta said Jesus has fully recovered, and may even start at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
"We’re really happy," Arteta said in his pre-match press conference. "Obviously, it was a big blow for him after the pre-season that he had to have another surgery, but he’s looking really sharp, and trained the full week really good, so he’s ready to go."
Arteta was then asked if he will be named in the starting XI, to which he replied: "Let’s see! It’s very good news."
Jesus scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 26 Premier League matches last season.
With one week to go until the summer transfer window closes, Arteta was asked about any Arsenal exits.
According to reports, Kieran Tierney is close to on a loan to Real Sociedad, while Folarin Balogun could be sold to Monaco.
But Arteta refused to get drawn into speculation about the pair's future.
"We cannot say anything," Arteta said. "There are some movements, but we cannot be dragged into individuals because there is nothing concrete yet."
One player who Arteta does not want to see leave is central defender Gabriel, who has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
"Gabi is a really important player for us," Arteta answered in reply to a question on the Brazilian. "There is nothing going on with that at the moment."
