It seems that being popular in Fantasy Premier League is a burden for Premier League players.
Remarkably, the No 1 transfer target has blanked in each of the five Gameweeks this season where FPL managers can make a trade.
Most-bought players by Gameweek
GW | Player | Transferred in by | Opp. | Pts |
---|---|---|---|---|
2 | Chilwell | 690,937 | WHU (A) | 1 |
3 | Mbeumo | 1,186,530 | CRY (H) | 2 |
4 | Sterling | 1,294,608 | NFO (H) | 2 |
5 | Son | 921,945 | SHU (H) | 2 |
6 | Alvarez | 1,375,407 | NFO (H) | 1 |
The latest player to suffer from this "curse" was Manchester City's Julian Alvarez (£6.9m), who was the most-bought player in Gameweek 6, signed by 1.38m managers.
The Argentinian returned only one point for his owners in the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
That means in total the five players who have been the most transferred-in over the past five Gameweeks (Ben Chilwell, Bryan Mbeumo, Raheem Sterling and Son Heung-min) have totalled eight points between them.
